How do I set up referral links or codes?

You don’t need to manually create or send referral codes — Roadmap generates them automatically and delivers them to customers once referral conditions are met.

How It Works

  1. Referral program enabled
    • In Roadmap → Loyalty → Referrals, you set up the rewards for referrers and friends.
  2. Customer gets a unique referral code/link
    • Once the program is active, Roadmap automatically generates a unique referral code and link for each customer.
    • Example: REF12345 or https://yourstore.com/ref/REF12345
  3. Customer shares the code/link
    • Customers can copy and share their referral code or link directly from the loyalty widget, customer account area, or email.
  4. Friend uses the referral link/code
    • When a friend makes their first purchase using the referral code/link, they get their reward (discount or points).
  5. Referrer is rewarded
    • Once the friend’s purchase is confirmed, Roadmap automatically delivers the reward to the referrer.

What You Configure

As the admin, you decide:

  • Reward type → Points or discount for both referrer and friend.
  • Minimum spend → Require a spend threshold for the friend’s order.
  • Applicable products/collections → Limit rewards to specific items.
  • Code prefix → Choose what referral codes look like (e.g. “REF”, “FRIEND”).

👉 Example: Referrer codes start with “REF” (e.g. REFABC123) and friend codes start with “FRIEND” (e.g. FRIENDABC123).

Customer Experience

  • Customers don’t request codes manually — they’re automatically available when they join the referral program.
  • Codes are visible in:
    • Customer account area.
    • Loyalty widget.
    • Referral notification emails (if enabled in Klaviyo).
