Can I limit earning to certain products, collections, or customer groups?

Introduction

Yes. Roadmap Loyalty lets you create earning rules that apply only to specific products, collections, or customer groups. This gives you full control over where points are awarded.

Limiting by Product or Collection

When creating a purchase earning rule, you can:

  • ✅ Include specific products → e.g. double points on subscription SKUs.
  • ✅ Exclude specific products → e.g. no points on clearance or gift cards.
  • ✅ Target collections → e.g. 2x points for products in the “New Arrivals” collection.

👉 Example: “Earn 2x points on all skincare items this month.”

Limiting by Customer Group

You can also restrict earning based on customer tags or groups, such as:

  • Wholesale or B2B customers (earn fewer or no points).
  • VIP customers (earn extra points).
  • Specific segments (e.g. subscribers only).

👉 Example: “Subscribers earn 1.5x points on all orders.”

How to Configure Limitations

  1. Go to Roadmap → Loyalty → Earning Rules.
  2. Create or edit a Purchase Rule.
  3. Under Conditions, select:
    • Products or collections to include/exclude.
    • Customer tags/groups to include/exclude.
  4. Save the rule.

Why Limit Earning?

  • Protect margins → Don’t give points on low-margin products.
  • Incentivize focus categories → Reward more points for strategic products.
  • Segmented rewards → Differentiate between retail, wholesale, or subscription customers.
  • Run campaigns → Offer bonus points on seasonal or promotional items.

Common Questions

  • Do excluded products earn any points?
    • No — if excluded, customers won’t earn loyalty points for those items.
  • Can I stack rules (e.g. general earn + bonus on specific collection)?
    • Yes — Roadmap applies the highest applicable rule.
  • Can wholesale customers earn points at a reduced rate instead of none?
    • Yes — create a separate rule for wholesale tagged customers.
  • Can I run limited-time earning promos?
    • Yes — earning rules can also be scheduled with start/end dates.

Summary

Yes — you can restrict earning to specific products, collections, or customer groups in Roadmap. This lets you:

  • ✅ Exclude low-margin items.
  • ✅ Reward bonus points on focus products.
  • ✅ Offer different earn rates for different customer groups.
