How do customers redeem points for discounts?

In Roadmap Loyalty, customers can redeem points for discounts directly in the cart or checkout. Unlike other apps, there’s no need to copy or paste discount codes — Roadmap applies rewards automatically, making redemption simple and seamless.

1. Redeeming in the Cart

• Customers see a “Redeem Points” dropdown or card in their cart.
• They can select from available reward options (e.g. $5 off for 500 points, $10 off for 1,000 points).
• Once selected, Roadmap applies the discount instantly and updates the cart total.

👉 Example: A customer with 1,200 points chooses “$10 off for 1,000 points” → cart instantly updates with $10 off.

2. Redeeming at Checkout

• Customers also see a “Redeem Points” dropdown at checkout.
• They can apply their points directly before completing the order.
• The discount appears immediately in the order summary.

👉 Example: A customer forgets to redeem in cart → they can still apply points at checkout before paying.

3. Automatic Discount Creation

• When a customer redeems points, Roadmap automatically creates and applies the correct discount in Shopify.

4. What Happens if Checkout Isn’t Completed

• If a customer redeems points but doesn’t finish checkout:
  • The discount is canceled.
  • The redeemed points are instantly returned to their balance.
