How do I restrict rewards to specific collections or customer tags?

Introduction

In Roadmap Loyalty, you can control who can redeem rewards and where rewards can be applied. This allows you to target rewards to specific customer groups (e.g. VIP members) or restrict them to certain product collections (e.g. new arrivals, subscriptions).

Restricting by Collection or Product

When creating or editing a reward:

  1. Go to Roadmap → Loyalty → Rewards.
  2. Select the reward type (discount, free product, etc.).
  3. Under Conditions, choose:
    • ✅ Eligible collections (e.g. only redeemable on “Skincare” products).
    • ✅ Excluded collections (e.g. can’t be used on “Clearance” or “Gift Cards”).
    • ✅ Specific products (limit to or exclude particular SKUs).
  4. Save your reward.

👉 Example: “Redeem 1,000 points for $10 off — valid only on New Arrivals.”

Restricting by Customer Tag or Group

You can also make rewards available only to customers with specific tags in Shopify.

  1. In the reward settings, go to Customer Eligibility.
  2. Select:
    • ✅ Specific tags (e.g. VIP, Subscriber).
    • ✅ Exclude groups (e.g. Wholesale, Staff).
  3. Save changes.

👉 Example: “Gold Tier customers can redeem points for free shipping.”

Why Restrict Rewards?

  • Protect margins → Prevent discounts on low-margin products.
  • Exclusive perks → Make rewards available only to VIP or subscriber groups.
  • Campaign targeting → Offer seasonal rewards limited to certain collections.
  • Wholesale control → Exclude B2B/wholesale groups from retail rewards.

Common Questions

  • Can one reward apply to multiple collections?
    • Yes — you can include multiple collections in a single reward condition.

Summary

Yes — you can restrict Roadmap Loyalty rewards by:

  • ✅ Collections/products → Include or exclude where rewards can be applied.
