Introduction
Yes — the Tag Library lets you schedule rules to start and end automatically. This is useful for running time-based promotions, product drops, or seasonal collections without needing to manually turn rules on and off.
How Scheduling Works
When creating or editing a rule, you’ll see the Active Dates section:
- Start date & time → The date/time when the rule becomes active.
- End date (optional) → The date/time when the rule will stop applying.
- Fallback state → What happens after the end date has passed (products/collections become either Visible or Hidden).
👉 Example:
- Start date: April 4, 2025, 17:25
- End date: April 7, 2025, 23:59
- Fallback: Hidden
Result:
- April 4, 17:25 → The rule activates (product becomes visible to eligible customers).
- April 7, 23:59 → The rule expires.
- After expiry → The product automatically switches back to Hidden.
Automation Without Scheduling
Even if you don’t set dates, rules are still automated. Roadmap enforces them continuously:
- Example: If a customer spends $200 and qualifies as a VIP, they instantly gain access to a VIP-only product without you needing to apply tags or update anything.
Use Cases for Scheduling
- Secret drops → Launch a hidden product for a set window.
- Limited-time sales → Make bundles or discounts available only for a weekend.
- Seasonal collections → Display holiday products during a specific period, then hide them automatically.
- Event access → Grant access to special pages during a live event, then expire afterwards.
Common Questions
- Do I need to activate rules manually at launch?
- No — rules start automatically at the scheduled time.
- What happens if I don’t set an end date?
- The rule stays active until you manually edit or delete it.
- What happens after the end date?
- The fallback state takes over. Products/collections either become Visible or Hidden, depending on your choice.
- Can I pause or reschedule a rule?
- Yes — edit the Active Dates or fallback at any time.

Summary
Yes — you can schedule Tag Library rules with start and end dates. Once the end date passes, Roadmap automatically applies the fallback state you chose (either keeping products/collections visible or hiding them). This makes it easy to run time-limited drops, promotions, and seasonal rules without manual intervention.
