Introduction
Running a Gift With Purchase (GWP) campaign is a powerful way to increase average order value (AOV) and reward customers. But to know if it’s working, you’ll need to track performance.
In Roadmap, every GWP promotion automatically becomes a filter in Analytics. This allows you to measure sales, order volume, and customer behavior directly tied to each campaign.
Where to Find GWP Campaign Data
- Go to Roadmap → Analytics.
- Use the Filters dropdown to select your GWP campaign.
- Review the performance metrics linked to that campaign.
Metrics You Can Track
- Orders triggered by the GWP
- See how many orders included the free gift.
- Revenue attributed to the campaign
- Track total revenue from orders where the GWP applied.
- Average Order Value (AOV)
- Compare AOV for customers who triggered the GWP vs. those who didn’t.
- Conversion impact
- Measure if offering a gift led to higher conversion rates.
- Gift redemption count
- See how many gifts were given away.
Example
Campaign: Spend $150 → Free candle
- 320 orders included the candle gift.
- $58,000 revenue attributed to those orders.
- AOV for GWP orders: $181 (vs. $112 for non-GWP orders).
- 320 free candles redeemed.
👉 This shows the promotion successfully increased basket size and encouraged higher spending.
Why This Matters
- Measure ROI → See if the cost of the gift is offset by increased sales.
- Compare promotions → Run multiple GWPs and see which drives better results.
- Refine targeting → Learn whether VIP-only, regional, or open-to-all gifts perform best.
- Track redemption in real time → Ensure inventory and campaign performance are aligned.
Common Questions
- Do GWPs show up as Shopify discounts?
- Yes, Roadmap creates hidden Shopify discounts in the background, but attribution is tracked in Roadmap Analytics.
- Can I export campaign data?
- Yes — you can export reports filtered by GWP campaign.
- Does Analytics include old campaigns?
- Yes — even after a GWP ends, you can still filter past data.
- Can I compare GWPs against discounts?
- Yes — since all promotions become Analytics filters, you can compare side by side.
