Introduction
Roadmap bundles are built from your existing Shopify products and variants. When a bundle is purchased, Roadmap unpacks it into those underlying SKUs, and Shopify reduces inventory for each item.
If bundle inventory doesn’t seem to update correctly, it’s usually due to product setup, stock rules, or theme/ERP conflicts.
1. Check the Products Inside the Bundle
- Make sure the right product variants were added when you created the bundle.
- 👉 Fix: Open Roadmap → Bundles → [Your Bundle] and confirm the selected products/variants are correct.
2. Verify Inventory Tracking in Shopify
- Shopify must be set to track quantity for the products in your bundle.
- 👉 Fix: In Shopify → Products → [Product] → Track quantity should be enabled.
3. Confirm Bundle Template Setup
- Some themes require a Roadmap bundle product template.
- If the wrong template is assigned, Shopify may not process inventory correctly.
- 👉 Fix: In Shopify → Products → [Your Bundle] → Theme template, assign the Roadmap Bundle Template (or contact Roadmap Support to configure one).
4. Out-of-Stock Items in the Bundle
- If any product in the bundle is out of stock, the entire bundle becomes unavailable.
- 👉 Fix: Restock the missing SKU or edit the bundle to remove/replace it.
5. Multiple Bundles Using the Same Product
- If a product is included in more than one bundle, its stock reduces across all related bundle sales.
- 👉 Fix: Check Roadmap Analytics to see where inventory consumption is coming from.
6. Fulfillment & Third-Party Apps
- If you’re using an ERP or inventory app, it may override Shopify’s stock sync.
- 👉 Fix: Place a test order directly in Shopify to confirm whether the issue comes from Roadmap or your external system.
7. When Does Stock Reduce?
- Inventory is only reduced when the order is placed, not when the bundle is added to cart.
- 👉 Fix: Complete a test checkout to confirm inventory reduces as expected.
Common Questions
- Does Roadmap create new SKUs for bundles?
- No — bundles use your existing SKUs.
- Why did my bundle go out of stock?
- Because one of the included products sold out.
- Will ERP/3PLs see bundles?
- No — they’ll see the underlying SKUs in the order for pick/pack and fulfillment.
- Can I track bundle stock separately?
- No — bundles don’t have their own inventory, they rely on included products’ stock.
