Introduction
Roadmap bundles are designed to work seamlessly with Shopify inventory and ERP systems. Instead of creating new “phantom products” that break fulfillment, bundles are made from your existing products or variants. When a bundle is purchased, Roadmap automatically adjusts the inventory of each underlying item, so stock always stays accurate.
How Inventory Works with Bundles
- Bundle Setup
- You create a bundle using products/variants that already exist in your store.
- Roadmap generates a Product Detail Page (PDP) for the bundle, but the underlying items remain the same SKUs you already use.
- When a Bundle is Added to Cart
- The bundle appears as one line item in the cart.
- Each included product shows as a sub-item beneath the bundle.
- Customers cannot remove individual items.
- At Checkout
- Roadmap passes the order to Shopify as if each SKU was purchased individually.
- Inventory is reduced at the product level (for each variant in the bundle).
- In Fulfillment/ERP
- The order looks like a normal order with multiple SKUs.
- Pick/pack and warehouse processes continue without changes.
- ERP integrations work automatically since no new SKUs are introduced.
Example
Bundle: Discovery Set (includes 6 fragrance minis)
- A customer buys 1 bundle.
- In Shopify:
- The order shows the bundle as a parent item.
- Each mini fragrance SKU is listed as a child line.
- Inventory: Each fragrance SKU is reduced by 1.
- Fulfilment: Warehouse staff pick the 6 minis like a normal order.
Benefits of This Approach
- Accurate stock tracking → Each SKU’s inventory is updated in real time.
- ERP-friendly → Works with any ERP or 3PL that already handles your SKUs.
- No duplicate SKUs → Bundles don’t create “fake” products that desync inventory.
- Easy forecasting → Analytics still work at both bundle and SKU level.
Common Questions
- What happens if one item in the bundle goes out of stock?
- The bundle will also go out of stock, since it can’t be purchased without all included items available.
- Can bundles track their own inventory separately?
- No — bundle stock is tied to the inventory of the products inside it.
- Do bundles affect warehouse processes?
- No — orders flow through Shopify as normal SKUs. Staff just pick the included products.
- Can I see bundle sales in Analytics separately from product sales?
- Yes — Roadmap Analytics tracks bundle performance, while Shopify tracks product inventory.

Summary
Roadmap bundles are built from your existing SKUs. When a customer buys a bundle, Shopify reduces inventory for each included product, and your ERP or 3PL fulfills them like normal. This ensures accurate stock, seamless fulfillment, and zero operational headaches.
